Prototyping

 What is prototyping?

Taking a product idea, drawing, or design, from concept to reality, requires prototyping. Engineering Plastics facilitates prototyping through a full suite of services, including 3D printing (FDM / SLA / SLS), vacuum casting, CNC machining, and injection moulding. Prototypes enable validation of part aesthetics, fit, finish, ergonomics, and in many cases, even function, at the lowest possible overall manufacturing cost. Prototyping generally ranges from 1 to around 100 parts, and is often a precursor to full-scale production or low-volume manufacturing.

Who is prototyping for?

Our prototyping services are the right fit for you if you:

  • need to validate or demonstrate product dimensions, aesthetics, features, or functions

  • have a project volume around 500 parts or lower

  • require the lowest entry cost for tooling

  • are looking for customer feedback on your part, or want to test multiple variants simultaneously.

Contact us to discuss your requirements with any ongoing or upcoming manufacturing project. If you’re not sure about what process would best suit your needs, our manufacturing experts would be happy to help with an assessment, generally within 1 business day.
